Why do i say this? Well i've had a few wonders about how the friend code system could be incorporated on the Wii and Elebits has shown me something that proves to be very optimistic. For those that are unaware, in Elebits you can send screen shots and edited levels over the WiiConnect24 connection. What is very interesting about this setup is the fact that your friends list is brought into the game. So when you want to send a level or shot you never leave the game. It simply pulls it up as a list of your friends names, just like a screen name.

If this is how it will work in future online games, it could be a great setup. All online multiplayer games would have to do to make this method great is to utilize the ideas (and further improve upon) of Metroid Prime Hunters on the DS. On metroid prime hunters you can actually see which of your friends are signed into the system. You also have the option to play against others in a "matchmaking" form, and even further you can save these "rivals" to your rivals list to be able to play against them again in the future. Plus even Metroid Prime Hunters has the ability to voice chat.. so add a wireless headset to the Wii, and allow us to chat with everyone (in MPH you can only voice chat with members of your friends list), this could be set to only friends via parental controls.

So in short this would be an in game friend list that tells you when your friends on with the ability to just find somebody that you don't know to play against, plus the ability to save these people that you want to play against in the future to a rivals list...simply the best.

I like the Rivals list in MPH, but you add some1, and then you never see them on again. I think some people play 1 game, and then just quit when they win. At the most, unless you set up a game with friends, the most every on is 1 or 2. I think that they need something like the Xbox Live thing, like you are talking about with the headsets. I think that we should be able to add more like 100 or 200 rivals and whenever they are on, you start up a chatroom with them. I think that it should also have something on the Wii, NOT THE GAME, that tells you when your friends or rivals are on AND what game they are playing. I like this idea though.
